| Big
Love |
Big Love
By Charles Mee
Directed by Mark Hunter
March 24 – April 10, 2005
Charles Mee’s
explosive update of The Suppliant Women by Aeschylus is
as much vaudeville as tragicomedy. 50 sisters forced to
marry 50 cousins make a pact to kill their grooms –
but what happens when love gets in the way? Big Love draws
on almost every kind of theatrical performance to tell the
story of some feisty women and the men who think they own
them. Sizzling dialogue, slapstick, soaring poetry, pop
songs, suspense – all these and more paint a startling
picture of the relations of men and women and the nature
of love in our time. A co-production with Cornell College.
Contains brief nudity and unmitigated theatricality.
